Elder Chen Woke Up

“Just who are you?”

Vice-President Tang demanded, his eyes flashing sharply at Yao Tang.

She was most certainly not an ordinary high school student. He would bet his life that she was a member of a reclusive family.

Yao Tang glanced at the signal device in Vice-President Tang’s hand with obvious disdain. “Your little toy is of very poor quality. It’s something I made when I was five years old. Suffice it to say that you do not deserve to know who I am.”

Her tone was cold and arrogant.

As one would expect, Vice-President Tang was deeply angered by it.

On the other side, Elder Xu and the others were staring at Yao Tang with awe. It was their first time witnessing just how powerful their new disciple was.

As expected, birds of the same feather did flock together.

Despite being new, Yao Tang’s style was very similar to the practices of the Cabinet. She was truly worthy of being their apprentice.

In yet another rare occurrence, Elder Wang beamed and nodded his head with pride.

Sure enough, he had done well in becoming this young girl’s mentor.

He and his peers had spared no effort to convince her in the beginning, but it was all worth it. Yao Tang was destined to be a member of the cabinet.

The other disciples thought so as well, and they looked at Yao Tang with a renewed sense of approval and admiration.

Even so, no one took her comment about creating the shielding device when she was five seriously. To everyone else, she was simply rubbing salt in the wound with her snide remarks.

If Elder Nie had been there, he would have been the only one to believe her words.

Vice-President Tang was mortified and furious.

This girl was too glib for her own good!

Under different circumstances, he might have even considered recruiting her into the Green Cloud Pavilion at all costs.

Now that things had come to this, however…

He definitely couldn’t let her off easily after all that she had done.

Vice-President Tang braced himself to make another move. Just as he was about to control his remaining men to capture Yao Tang, he felt another wave of energy rush over him.

He looked toward the source and found that Elder Chen had regained consciousness.

Elder Chen slowly sat up, looking like he had no memory of everything that had transpired.

Despite his confusion, his spiritual energy continued to thrum in the air around them, making Vice-President Tang frown with apprehension.

Elder Chen was another formidable opponent!

Yao Tang, a mere disciple, was already more than he could handle. If Elder Chen were to join the fray, he didn’t know what fate would await him in the end.

But what confused Vice-President Tang the most was the fact that they had administered a special knockout powder when they had first captured Elder Chen.

The substance had come all the way from the Southern Sea, and was notorious in the black market for its potency.

In light of Elder Chen’s skills, Vice-President Tang had even increased the dosage.

So how did Elder Chen recover from his coma?

He should have been unconscious for at least another day, yet here he was, looking like he had just woken up from a nap.

How was this possible?

Vice-President Tang’s mind was racing, but he couldn’t find any answers.

Again, if Elder Nie were here, he would have pointed out Yao Tang and her seeming omnipotence.

It was a pity, then, that Elder Nie was not around.

To his credit, Vice-President Tang did suspect that Yao Tang might have somehow extracted the knockout powder, but nobody saw her do it, so could only dismiss the idea soon after.

As for the Cabinet members, they were elated to see that Elder Chen had woken up. Even the elders themselves could not contain their excitement.

Since Elder Chen had regained his faculties, he could join in on the fight. The odds were now in the Cabinet’s favor.

Vice-President Tang’s face darkened as he pondered some more.

He loathed to admit it, but the Green Cloud Pavilion was at a disadvantage.

He knew that they were no match against the Cabinet with Elder Chen thrown into the mix.

More than anything else, Vice-President Tang was afraid of being defeated and losing face.

If the Green Cloud Pavilion lost here, then all of their efforts would be in vain.

“Elder Chen,” Vice-President Tang snarled. “Do you still care about your disciple’s life?”

Fortunately, they still had Zhang Yi in their hands. Even if the Cabinet were to whisk Elder Chen away, the Green Cloud Pavilion still had one more hostage to threaten them with.
