A Hostage!

Had the Green Cloud Pavilion gotten a hold of Yao Tang’s phone? Were they going to negotiate them now?

Thinking about this, Elder Xu was quick to answer.

“Hello?”

As soon as the call had gone through, Elder Xu furrowed his eyebrows. He glanced at his phone one more time before taking it to his ear, looking as if something had gone wrong.

Did something happen?

Elder Li took a step forward, pursing his lips. “Elder Xu—”

“I understand,” Elder Xu said.

It didn’t take long for him to hang up the phone. Even then, the old man still appeared to be confused. It was as if he had encountered something completely unbelievable.

“What happened? Is it about Tangtang?”

Elder Li frowned. “What have you heard? Do you have any news?”

Was it bad news?

Why did he appear so confused?

“Yes.”

Elder Xu nodded.

“Well?”

“Has she been kidnapped?”

“Have they mentioned a ransom?”

“Was it the Green Cloud Pavilion?”

“Elder Xu, say something!”

“As long as their conditions aren’t too excessive, we can agree with them. Don’t worry. As long as we get them back, we’ll agree to anything.”

As Elder Xu appeared to be in a complete daze, the group of elders continued to bombard him with multiple questions. They didn’t even give them the time to answer.

“Elder Xu!”

Snapping back to reality, the old man took a deep breath. “It was Tangtang,” he said. “She said that she’s fine and that she’d be back soon, but...”

He frowned.

“But?”

Elder Li pushed hurriedly.

Elder Xu hesitated. “She said that the matter between Elder Chen and his disciple has been resolved and that we shouldn’t worry about it.”

“What?”

“What’s going on?”

There were only four of them in total. How could they protect themselves against the Green Cloud Pavilion and even settle the matter with Elder Chen? What was going on?”

“Yao Tang must’ve been kidnapped! She’s probably locked up with Elder Chen!”

“Right! She must’ve been delivering a secret message.”

They all furrowed their eyebrows.

Even they couldn’t understand what was going on.

“Could it be that she knows we’ve been trying to get Elder Chen back? She must’ve thought that we’ve agreed with the conditions and that she’s coming back to us.” Elder Li pursed his lips.

Otherwise, why would she say this?

The old men furrowed their eyebrows as they stared at Elder Xu’s phone.

“No, that’s not the case.”

Elder Xu slowly said, “I heard that she’s going to bring back a hostage. She’s almost at the Association now and is preparing an exchange with the Green Cloud Pavilion.”

A hostage?

An exchange with the Green Cloud Pavilion?

The Elders just couldn’t put them together.

What did she mean?

How could they have defended themselves? They were ordinary people. How could they have protected themselves against the Green Cloud Pavilion?

They scratched their heads.

“Maybe she said this so that we wouldn’t worry about her?” Elder Li suggested.

“That’s possible.”

“Why don’t we check the surveillance cameras? Or should we still do that? She must be all right now that she had made a phone call, right? Maybe we should wait for her to arrive?”

Even then, no one could answer his questions.

How could they when they didn’t know what had happened?
