Chapter 720  : A Monster

Yu Chen cried out and spread his arms wide, preparing to use a formation to trap these hooligans and let them die in the land they disrespected.

Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to stretch that far before he realized that he was still handcuffed.

He had commanded such a fierce stance, too, and even the smugglers felt their hearts shake in the face of his threats.

But looking at him now, they couldn’t help but laugh at his ridiculous appearance.

This man was merely courting his own death!

To think that he had dared to act all tough and intimidate them, he must not know what death was!

“Brat! I’ve never seen anyone so audacious as to bluff in a situation like this. Do you realize what you’ve gotten yourself into?”

“I can kill you where you stand with a single shot!”

“Brothers, why don’t we get rid of this meddlesome pair first? Once we’re done with them, we can finish off the Search Divisionand their precious Young Master Yao. We need to show these people what it means to provoke us!”

“Right! Take out your guns and just riddle them with bullets!”

“Everyone, get them! We need to kill them here and now!”

With that, the foreigners brandished their weapons and rushed toward Yu Chen.

Yao Yan stood back among his men and narrowed his eyes. For some reason, that girl in the distance felt familiar to him.

He was almost certain he had seen that figure before. And the feeling she gave off…

It reminded him of Yao Tang. But it couldn’t be her.

He had sent Yao Tanghome after yesterday’s earthquake. Their parents would surely have coddled her after the ordeal, and forbidden her to come out for quite some time.

Besides, this part of the mountain was dangerous. How would a teenager like her even find her way to this place?

Yao Yan soon ruled out the possibility that it wasYao Tang.

Without breaking his cool, he surveyed the enemies surrounding them and estimated the number who had broken from the group to attack the newcomers.

After making some calculations, he barked out an order to the Search Division.

An opportunity had presented itself. The smugglers were currently distracted.

It was the best time to strike back.

“Men of the Search Division, listen to me carefully! Muster whatever strength you have left and charge at the enemy with all your might!”

“Yes, Sir!”

His men seemed to have found renewed vigor in the way things had turned out. They took out their weapons and tightened their circle around Yao Yan as they hacked their way through the foreigners.

Sure enough, the other party was not expecting the Search Divisionto make their move.

With their skills, Yao Yan’s men were able to break through the enemy lines in no time.

“Let’s go and help those two!” Yao Yancommanded without a second thought.

Judging by what the young man had said, he surmised that the pair was also from their country. More importantly, they had elected to put their lives on the line for the sake of the Search Division.

There was no way Yao Yanwas going to leave them just like that.

His men ambled their way over to where Yu Chenwas. Here and there, the dead and the injured were strewn across the path.

It was fairly easy to reach the bushes, as there weren’t many smugglers who were still able to fight.

Not far off, they could spot a lithe figure who seemed to be dancing among the enemies, her blade glinting in the sunlight.

Wherever her dagger passed, men crumpled to the ground and wailed in agony.

Yu Chen stared blankly at the fallen men as they writhed in pain and begged for mercy.

Yao Tang’s movements reminded him of a farmer harvesting her crops.

She swung her arm this way and that, and no one was left standing.

What a force of nature.

“Monster,” Yu Chenmuttered unwittingly. “This girl is a monster!”

He had been shocked plenty enough when she struck down the first man.

But now that she had felled so many, he felt like his brain was turning into mush as he tried to process what he was witnessing.

How could a girl have this much combat strength? And she was an array master, too, whose level of skill greatly surpassed his.

Did she come from some devil training camp or something? Because she did resemble a spawn of hell.

Array masters focused on their own craft. They spent their days studying arrays and ways to better them, and had relatively weak martial arts skills.

They were held in high regard wherever they went, so in times of danger, they would naturally be protected and hidden away from the fight.

Despite their inherently weak physiques, they had no reason to train their combat skills.

After all, a single talisman was enough to trap an army of ten thousand riders, and one array master was capable of wielding up to a thousand talismans at a time.

And yet, Yao Tangexisted, a girl who not only had defeated his array, but was now fighting as though she was born for battle.
